Thursday Thirteen 293: Weird Questions

Since technology is again refusing to cooperate with me and is not allowing me to finish another post I have started, I decided to go with something quick and easy. Here are thirteen "weird questions" taken from the Sunday Stealing meme.

1. Do you wear slippers?
No, I prefer slipper socks. Wearing a pair right now in fact. The advantage over slippers is that I can actually wear these to bed.

2. How many pictures are in your living room?
Eight photographs and one painting.

3. Do you ever watch Brady Bunch reruns?
Not usually. I can’t even tell you when I last saw an episode. M*A*S*H on the other hand…I often watch that during the week, after the evening news, and watched one of tonight's two episodes before heading out for a walk.

4. Are you allergic to anything?
Sadly, yes. Perfume, pollen, ragweed . . . I have a hard time walking down the cleaning products aisle of any store, and hate those perfume samples in ads and magazines.

5. When was the last time you called in sick?
Wow, when did I last call in sick? I think it was two years ago, when my niece and her cousins gave me the flu for Christmas. Thoughtful of them, wasn't it?

6. Have you ever been in a car accident?
Yes, two minor ones. The first happened in a store parking lot, when my sister and another driver backed into each other. He thought he’d take the college kids for a ride with the insurance company. I’m sure he wasn't happy when he had to pay her (it was ruled equal fault, and her car suffered the most damage, so he had to pay the difference). The second, I was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended at a stop sign last year. Woman took her foot off the break and rolled into us. No damage to either car, but my neck was a little sore for a couple days from the slight jolt (the joy of a previous neck injury, ironically NOT caused by a car accident).

7. What is your favorite snack food?
Duh, anything chocolate. Like fudge brownies. Or Double fudge brownie ice cream. Sensing a theme here?

8. Have you ever seen a tornado?
No, though a couple have come within 1-2 miles of where I live. That’s close enough in my opinion. Having seen the damage these storms can do, I have a healthy respect for taking cover, or preparing to do so, when the sirens go off.

9. If you won a million dollars, what would you buy first?
A passport, followed by a ticket outta here.

10. What time is it right now?
"Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?"

11. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Honestly, I'm not a shoe person. I absolutely hate shopping for them. So . . . I think I have six pair—and that includes my winter boots and the old walking shoes I just replaced.

12. Do you own a dictionary?
More than one, and in three languages (English, French and Norwegian). I also own a thesaurus or two. Oh, and a rhyming dictionary. I almost forgot about that one. *Grin*

13. Any big plans for the summer?
Nothing, other than Concerts on the Square, which starts next Wednesday and continues for six weeks.

LOL... Thanks, Ladyfi!

Such a pity, your allergies are the worst kind for someone who liked to go for walks.

Pollen allergies seem to be getting more frequent in recent years. It can be a pain.

Ah, chocolate. You can't go wrong with anything chocolate. I own lots of dictionaries too. Part of the job.

I started to hear the Chamber Brothers "Time Has Come Today" after reading does anyone know what time it is?

Heather said...

Alice: Yes, they are. Which is why I always make sure I've taken allergy meds at least a half hour to an hour before spending time outside, and have extras on hand just in case.

The worst attack I've ever had, though, was actually at the Rita Awards about a decade ago. So much for being a scent-free conference ~ I was miserable.

Anthony: Yes, there has been a rise in pollen allergies over recent years, affecting people who had never suffered previously. And lucky me ~ I live in one of the US cities that has seen a significant increase. The joy and bain of living in such a "green" city. :-\

Shelley: You really can't go wrong with chocolate or a good dictionary, can you? *G*

Heather said...

Colleen: I honestly don't think I know that one. Do you know how many people in my life would be shocked by this? LOL :D

Love your answer to the time one. Nothing like a little Chicago. It was Chicago, wasn't it?

You're right. These are interesting questions and I enjoyed learning more about you. I'm with you on the chocolate. Thanks.

Anita: Thank you -- Yes, it was Chicago. :D

Thanks, Mia! Chocoholics unite! ☺

I'm definitely not a shoe person either. And I have allergies too.

Hope your technological issues clear up.

#10 has a certain song running through my mind. :)

Jennifer: It's good to know I'm not the only non-shoe female. As for the technical issues...I fear that may be something only a brand spanking new computer can solve, which is not in the budget at present. :-\

Heather said...

Thanks, Paige! They do come up with some interesting questions sometimes, and if nothing else -- they're great for blog filler. ☺

Gal: Hehe...sorry 'bout that! :D

I noticed nos. 7 and 9 have been asked more than twice on SS. I want a rhyming dictionary.

Hazel: Yes, there are a lot of questions that often come up on Sunday Stealing. Guess it's to be expected, since they "lift" them from different blogs.

I saw a Through the Wormhole episode recently where the question they explored was "Does Time Really Exist?" Needless to say, all I got out of it was that some people have too much "time" on their hands. hahaha

Nice Q&A. :-D

Jana: ROFL... Some people definitely have too much time on their hands.
