Sometimes in the evenings, I like to listen to the local "oldies" station while I am on the computer. I particularly like the "80s at 8" segment, though a part of me is offended that songs I grew up on are now considered "oldies" (no offense to those who may be slightly older than I). Sometimes the host plays a song I haven't heard in years or may have forgot about, and some nights it's hard not to get up and dance along. Here are a few songs heard on a recent evening.
1. Sweet Dreams (Are made of This) by The Eurythmics
2. If You Leave by OMD
3. True by Spandau Ballet
4. Party All the Time by Eddie Murphey
5. Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar
6. Heaven is a Place on Earth by Belinda Carlisle
7. Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart
8. Mony Mony by Billy Idol
9. Driving My Life Away by Eddie Rabbit
10. Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears
11. Sexual Healing by Marvin Gay
12. Safety Dance by Men in Hats
13. Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Wave

Are these really just 80's? I could swear some are much older.
Some excellent songs there. Great collection.
I love 80s songs, too, though I grew up with the 70s. The 80s mark my adulthood.
Great list!
Shelley: You're welcome. :D
Rekaya: Glad to bring back some memories. I think a lot fo girls were crushing on Corey Hart, especially after that song/video. And what's so bad about number 12, huh? lol
Alice: They are really just 80's, but some have been more propular (longer staying power) than others, and a couple have been used in multiple movies.
A lot of Tears for Fears' music has been used in film and TV. For example, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." It was used in TV shows throughout the 90s and 2000s, including Medium and Cold Case. It was also used in the movies Real Genius, Peter's Friends and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion
And, of course, the Spandau Ballet song "True" was used in a recent commercial for the Chevy Malibu. "That's Spandau Ballet, man!"
Thanks, Anthony! I love the 80's at 8 hour, though some nights he plays a better mix than others, and some nights he'll slip one in that really throws you.
Anita: One of our local stations has a 70's program on Saturdays and 80s music on Sundays. I admit, while I know a good selection of 70's music, I'm more familiar with the 80's.
So 80's! Eddie Murphy made a song?!
1. I completely forgot about Eddie Murphy's foray into music!!!
2. I have heard a remake of "Sweet Dreams" and I wondered if I'd like the new one as much if I wasn't totally in love with the old version too. LOL! Great TT.
Colleen: Worse than that -- he made an entire album, lol.
Jennifer: I confess, it made me laugh when that song came on the radio. Likewise the one by Eddie Rabbit--not because his was bad, but because I had not heard it in so long and never remember hearing it on the rock/top 40 stations.
Thankfully, I have not heard a remake of "Sweet Dreams." Hate it when people ruin a good song by remaking it.
I feel so old.
I know all of those! Love 80's music!
*hugs*

Alice: ROFL... It is kind of sad that the music we grew up on now qualifies as "oldies," isn't it?
Paige: No way! You never know the music I post. This has to be a first. *VBG*
