Skywatch Friday 36

Although we've had some sun since last Skywatch, I can't resist sharing some of the photos I took on the way home from work last Friday. We had a cold front come through that dropped the temperature almost twenty degrees overnight and brought scattered rain showers with it. It poured just before I left work last Friday and -- as you can tell from the photos -- was still sprinkling a bit at times, and looked ready to pour again. Even when clouds started to push eastward, it made for dramatic sky photos.

Driving east, towards the rain clouds.

Still heading east, past a dairy farm.

Turning north, the clouds began to change from gray to white,
and patches of blue sky could be seen.

Another farm heading north towards the city.

Storm clouds bear down upon the corn crop.

More blue sky above massive clouds.

Looking east again, above the Beltline. Some of the clouds have
broken up, but there is still rain in the distance.

I like to skywatch, especially when the weather is changing. Nice pics!

Thanks, Greg. Stormy weather is a great time for skywatching, day or night.

These could be our recent skies, but we've had fog to add to the equation as well. Today is mostly clouds, a little rain and a bit of sun.

Shelley: We've had clouds like this, as well as completely overcast skies, off and on all week. Thankfully, today was more sun than clouds--but they're predicting a believe average August temperature wise, with a lot more rain in store.

Ugh! :-\

What a neat variety skies! Nice to remain dry during the inclement phase-

Stanley: Yes, I was glad it stopped raining before I left work, and was home before it started again. Unlike this past Wednesday, when I got caught in the rain along a 2-mile stretch with no bus or anywhere to duck for cover. at least I had an umbrella with me!

That is some lovely country.

Thanks, Anita -- and it's only minutes outside the city!

Great shots, Trix.

I love it when the sky looks all deep blue stormy and the clouds so puffy. We've had a few days like that lately.

Thanks, Jana! We've had too many days like that this summer, but I guess it beats 100F in the shade!
