A winter mix of freezing rain, light snow and drizzle resulted in a beautiful rime frost last Saturday, December 21 . . .

It's currently 19 degrees here and I wish I could have stayed warm and toasty at home today. Wind chills are unspeakable. I can just imagine how miserable I'd be if I had to get out in something like this.

Sure does make for gorgeous photos, though. ;-)

These were actually taken on one of our "warmer" winter days...when temps were in the upper 20s. We've had too many days in the single digits or with below zero windchills this year.

It really is a beautiful frost. i particularly like the shot with the long spikes of ice crystals on the branches.
