EDITED TO ASK: Is anyone else having difficulty reaching the T13 hub this week? Every time I try to access the site to add my link, I get IE error messages. This is the only site with which I am experiencing issues.

Oooh these are great. I've not heard of "Brother John". Was it good? "The Net" creeped me out so much!!! Did you like it? I was fascinated by it.

Jennifer: Brother John was good. It was a Poitier movie I had not seen before. The Net has always creeped me out, but more so now I think than when it first came out. I mean, look at all the hacking scandals these past few months!

Whaah. All the links I clicked on gave me a not-found error.

That's quite the mixed bag. Eight Heads in a Duffel sounds like it should be the title to one of the books you've read.

We liked The Net!

Alice: Yes, it is indeed an eclectic mix. Thanks for the heads up that blogger f***** with my links. I really HATE it when they do that. Will attempt to fix.

Paige: The Net is a good one (unlike the sequal), but it had been so long since I'd seen it I almost forgot Dennis Miller had a small role.

Boy, was that an eclectic mix! Feels kind of like a modern version of the history of film I took back in the 70s.

Hmm. I'm going to check out The Poisoners Handbook. Thanks for the tip.

Rebecca: ROFL... And these were all on regular TV, not cable. Some were a bit strange, some funny, some thought-provoking. I had a film crit class in college, so can relate to the randomness. There were movies in that class I loved (American Pie, Shirley Valentine, some I absolutely hated (Hamburger Hill).

Mia: You're welcome! Deborah Blum is a local author and UW-Madison professor. I heard her talk at the Wis Book Fest several years back on another book of hers, Ghsot Hunters, but would really like to get my hands on The Poisoner's Handbook.

The 2-hour program I watched was on PBS, but is also available on DVD or on-demand. The stories featured in the PBS special were fascinating, to say the least. It went well with the one they aired in December, How Sherlock Changed the World.

Gosh, I am so movie-handicapped. I really need to watch more videos. I don't think I have seen a single one of these.

Heather said...

Anita: Wow, not a one? And some of these are pretty old!

Now I'm getting Unable To Connect messages, but that's probably just me. I get a lot of those.

Heather said...

If you were getting them today, then maybe it wasn't just me. I was able to connect from work this morning, but am afraid to try again from home, as the error messages then shut me down and I have to reconnect again. PITA!

Wonder when will I get around to watching Some Like it Hot.... Oh I want #6.

Heather said...

Hi Hazel! Some like it Hot was a fun classic film, and The Poisoner's Handbook was a fascinating look at forensic history. I'm glad I recorded it so I can watch again (but still want the actual book, LOL).
