The tops of 9-foot sunflowers are barely visible in this one . . . |
Scattered clouds made for interesting light during the two-hour walk. |
The sun starts to set behind the trees . . . |
This is the downside to living in such a green city -- it's sometimes difficult to get a good, unobstructed view of a spectacular sunset. |

What a glorious way to end a day -- any day!! Superb captures!! Thank you so much for sharing! Have a lovely weekend!!
Beautiful photos and sunset captures! It can be really tough to get good sky shots in areas with so many trees!
Thanks, Sylvia! It is definitely the best way to end a pleasant summer evening, and we've been blessed with a cooler than normal summer this year. ☺
Spare Parts: Thank you. I love that our city was actually planned out with green space, but the trees can be exasperating at times. I've learned there are a couple bends in the nearby bike path that offer fairly decent views of the setting sun. One of these mornings I might actually succeed in getting up to capture a sunrise. Ha! ☺
These are beautiful skies!
Have a nice Sunday!
Thanks, Mary!
great set of skies. :)
Thank you! ☺
I would have thought they were burning the prairie, except you said they were avoiding that.
I was on the south side of the prairie, and they only burn in the early spring, so I knew it wasn't that. And it's not that they DON'T do controlled burns, but that they have been unable to do the prairies due to weather or other conditions the last few years.
You have to have the right weather conditions (i.e. no wind or storms), certain number of fire professionals/personnel, and it can't be during morning or evening rush hour (they don't want smoke drifting across the Beltline, esp. during heavier traffic periods). It's a major PITA for Arboretum staff to schedule and carry out.
Gorgeous skies and scenery.
Thanks, Jana! ☺
