Teaser Tuesday 244: The Heart of Christmas

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week I am reading The Heart of Christmas by Brenda Novak, a romance set during Christmas. I've just started this one, so my teaser comes from the start of chapter one this week.

There was a naked man in her bed.

Eve Harmon’s stomach tensed, and her heart skipped a beat—but she was pretty sure she had invited him. From the way their clothes were strewn carelessly around the room, it was obvious that, not long ago, she’d been happy to have him with her.

(Beginning of Chapter 1)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Genre: Romance
Series: Whiskey Creek #7

Eve Harmon has always enjoyed Christmas, but this year it reminds her of everything she doesn't have. Almost all her friends are married now, and that's what Eve wants, too. Love. A husband and kids of her own. But the B and B she manages, and even Whiskey Creek, the small Gold Country town where she was born and raised, suddenly seem…confining.

Eve's worried that her future will simply be a reflection of her past. There's no one in the area she could even imagine as a husband—until a handsome stranger comes to town. Eve's definitely attracted to him, and he seems to have the same reaction to her. But his darkly mysterious past could ruin Eve's happily ever after—just when it finally seems within reach. And just when she's counting on the best Christmas of her life!

* A copy of this book was won from Goodreads and received from the publisher.

Yvonne: So far it's been pretty good. Had some trouble sleeping last night, so am about 1/4 into it now.

PD: Major oops, LOL.

Jana: I've had my copy since September as I won it through Goodreads. I couldn't bring myself to read a Christmas book before Hallowen, though, but had hoped to get to it in November. Ah, well... Reading it now. *G*

If she has to put it together like that rather than remembering straight up, she much have been drunk the night before. Darkly mysterious strangers tend to go with too much to drink.

Heather said...

Alice: You would be correct about the being drunk part. ;-)

Great beginning! I hope the rest is as engaging. Happy reading!

Kathy M: I had some difficulty setting it aside last night to get some sleep, and suspect tonight will be as equally difficult. ☺

Hi Kelley! This one definitely fits the bill of a nice Christmas romance. Nearly finished it around 5am, when my rude upstairs neighbors woke me - again. Getting tired of being woken at 3am every morning, especially when I have trouble getting back to sleep as I did today. Then, I finally fall back to sleep a bit after 5, only to be woken by them again at 6am! Grrr...
