2014 Ornaments: Blue Christmas

I received this "Blue Christmas" 4-piece ornament kit as a gift. There was enough leftover floss that I was able to whip up a few extra of each design using my own Aida cloth and some frames.

"Blue Christmas" kit from Cathy Needlecraft Inc.
Designs were stitched on 18-ct white Aida cloth.

Gorgeous!

Hey, where do you get your kits these days? I tried to pick one up over Christmas to keep my hands busy why people talked at me, but couldn't find anything.

I like the blue theme, bird and snowflake best.

Those are lovely. You are so good with stuff like that. I am envious.

Alice: Thank you. I've received a lot of the kits I've done as gifts from friends, as was the case with these. It is more difficult to find cross-stitch kits in stores these days. Sometimes you can luck onto something at Joann's, Michael's or Hobby Lobby, but not very often. I occasionally find something I like at Wisconsin Craft Market, but usually if you want a set of ornaments, you have to order online from Amazon, Mary Maxim, Dimensions, or Herrschners.

Jana: Thank you!

Colleen: Thanks - I'm more partial to the holly and snowflake myself.

Thanks, Anita!

I almost always make my own designs, but this time I wanted a kit fast. I was even willing to go with a design I didn't really like to have it all set up for me. No luck at all. I should have known it moved to the internet.

Unfortunately, cross-stitch isn't as popular right now as knitting or crochet, so shops tend to cater to those crafts, with little or no selection for other needle crafts. :-(

Yet I see people doing crochet on airplanes and such. Then again, the embroidery I do while waiting in places like doctor's offices has drawn a lot of attention.

As I said, crochet and knitting are really big right now. I've tried embroidery, but do not like it as much as counted cross-stitch.
