Teaser Tuesday 254: Dead Heat

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week’s teaser comes from a book for which I have been waiting for months and finished reading this evening: Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs, book four in her Alpha & Omega series.

"The children must bleed," she gritted out, and the knife shook in her hand. "Bleed out the bad—" She dug the knife into her thigh and he winced. . . .

(Chapter 3)

~ * ~*~ *~ *~

She took a deep breath, like an actress going onstage, pasted a big smile on her face, and said, "I find it somewhat reassuring that I'm not the only one who feels like I should be running around shouting, 'Where’s the script? Where's the script? If only I had a script I'd know what the freak I’m supposed to be doing.'"

(Chapter 13)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Alpha and Omega #4

For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way . . .

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae’s cold war with humanity is about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire.

Whoa. Sounds intense!

This week I’m reading a police procedural thriller about a missing child: http://pdworkman.com/excerpt-from-cold-fear-books-teasertuesday/

PD: There were some intense moments, but some that had me laughing out loud as well. Thanks for visiting!

Okay, I don't usually like werewolves, but something about the teasers intrigued me. LOL

Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “SUMMER SECRETS”

I read the first one or two of these books and really liked them ... I need to get back to the series.

This sounds a little too gritty for me!
My Tuesday post features DEVIOUS.

Heidi: Thank you. The Alpha & Omega series is a spinoff of her Mercy Thompson books, so if you like those, you're sure to be hooked on Anna and Charles. ☺

Sonia: No argument here - I really enjoyed this latest addition to the series.

Laurel-Rain: Try the novella "Alpha & Omega" - the prequel of this series and see what you think. ;-)

Beth F: Yes, you really should try to catch up. ☺

Sandra: The series is urban fantasy, which isn't for everyone, and they're more action-packed than blood and gore.

Not a fan of that first one - but the second could be me any day!

Thanks for coming by mine from The Dream Lover by Elizabeth Berg

Yes, I feel I could use a script on many days, LOL.

I like to make my own scripts as I go, but somehow I never end up following them.

Alice: Yes, you're more of an impromptu kind of gal. ;-D
