Thursday Thirteen 273: A Visit to Olbrich Gardens

Last Saturday, we made a visit to Olbrich Botanical Gardens, where we walked through their Spring Flower Show exhibit, Bolz Conservatory, and a bit of the outside grounds. The flower show had several vignettes based on Beatrix Potter's tales interspersed among the flowers, which my niece loved. Here are some of the photos from inside Olbrich. (See Wednesday and Friday posts for a few outdoor shots.)

FROM THE SPRING FLOWER SHOW:

This scene greeted visitors as they entered the flower show.
I thought I had photographed Mr. McGregor's garden—complete with
Peter Rabbit's little blue jacket—on the other side, but
discovered when I got home that I had somehow missed it.

English Daisies

How fun that you took your niece to the flower show! I love the miniatures--always interesting things to see at the flower show. Thanks for sharing some highlights!

How sweet! Peter Rabbit is one of my all time favorites and I remember the first time I heard in in kindergarten! My post today made me think of you with a list of books!

Even if you missed the Peter Rabbit thing, it's still super cute.

Beth: More like she (and her parents) took me there, but I did suggest it, LOL. She loves flowers, they were up for the day, and it was something we could do indoors. We did have a good time, though it's too bad more wasn't in bloom outside.

Colleen: I love the tales of Beatrix Potter. She had quite the imagination and drawing talent, and still makes reading fun for kids of all ages.

Alice: Thanks, though I still wish I had gotten that garden shot. ☺

LOL...Thanks, Ron!

Sandy: Definitely good for the soul, especially as it has turned cold again and we had snow and/or a winter mix twice this week.

Okay, so I'm a little in love with these. Love the Peter Rabbit scenes and love all the interesting looking flowers. Must have been a real joy to walk through and see it all in person.

Such pretty colors! And I love the idea of a flower show with a Beatrix Potter theme. That is a wonderful idea - maybe something I should take up with the local library. Hmm.

Those pink flowers are gorgeous! And the yellow bird is so vivid. Great shots!

Jana: Yes, it was nice to walk through the flower show and actually see stuff blooming -- especially since we've had snow again since. :-/

Anita: Thank you. I thought the theme was pretty clever, too. Some of the scenes featured little figurines or what looked like Hallmark ornaments, while others featured larger mesh or wire animals. I loved that Mr. McGregor's garden featured actual herbs and veggies anyone could grow. And yes, it might be something fun for your library to use. :)

Forgetfulone: Thank you, I love seeing and listening to the canaries inside the conservatory and the Gerbera daisies were gorgeous.
