I thought magnolias were more of a southern thing.

Alice: They do have a longer bloom cycle in the south. Here in the Midwest they only bloom a few weeks in the spring.

That makes sense, considering they survive at all.

Uh-huh... I think maybe our yo-yoing spring temps contribute to the shorter bloom cycle. They don't like it any more than we do when it goes from 70 one week to 40 or lower the next.
