Random Photo: So many petals

Seems like something new comes into bloom every week along the bike path. As you can see, there is a lot of purple right now.

Pale purple coneflower --a Wisconsin threatened species

I love the curled petal on this one

Prairie clover in their colorful dresses

I have no idea what this is, as I cannot find it in my plant book --
I'm seeing a lot of it in one section of the bike trail, though.

Thistles are just starting to bloom

Wild Bergamot (or bee balm, to some of you)

I wonder why purple is so strong right now. It's certainly pretty enough, but I like the sunflower better.

Alice: I've noticed that purple, yellow and white tend to be dominate colors on the prairies. Guess it's just coincidence that a lot of the purple started blooming at the same time.
