This week’s teaser was a reread of a childhood classic, Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren. Originally published in Swedish in 1950, it was later translated into many other languages.
Way out at the end of a tiny little town was an old overgrown garden, and in the garden was an old house, and in the house lived Pippi Longstocking. She was nine years old, and she lived there all alone. She had no mother and no father, and that was of course very nice because there was no one to tell her to go to bed just when she was having the most fun, and no one who could make her take cod liver oil when she much preferred caramel candy.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Tommy and sister Annika have a new neighbor, and her name is Pippi Longstocking. She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on her porch, and a pet monkey named Mr. Nilsson. Whether Pippi's scrubbing floors, doing arithmetic, or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure.

I've never read it. I think I should!
I just read 'Heidi' and enjoyed it.
Lea: It was fun revisiting Pippi. I think we had three different editions of "Heidi," owing to that being the name of one of my sisters.
