A few weeks ago, I explored a new-to-me area, Indian Springs Park in a friend's neighborhood. The trail starts out through woods, then you cross a creek and the path winds along the edges of a cornfield. One of the highlights was the row of bluebird houses. Sadly, some were in great disrepair. I kept a wary eye on the sky, too. We had some rain in the wee hours of the morning, and the morning sky kept clouding over like we might get some more -- which, thankfully, we did not, at least while I was walking. Here are some of the many photos taken that day.

I need to get over there again one of these days! It's been many years since I hiked there. It looks like they have some great native plants doing well along the path. Great photos!
Thanks, Beth -- There didn't seem to be much blooming along some sections of the path, but other areas made the trek well worth it. I wonder if there are asters or gentians now?

So that's a bluebird house? I was envisioning something more along the lines of a swallow house.

Alice: I can't say for sure that there are bluebirds nesting in them, but they are generally called bluebird houses -- at least around here. Other birds may have taken up residence as easily as bluebirds. ;-)

I want to walk those paths and lay in that grass and stare at that sky. But only if I have my own personal snow flurries to keep me cool. haha
Jana: Girl, don't even mention the "S" word yet. We don't want any of that for at least two months! And, I'd also like to request that it not be below freezing again this year for Halloween.
