Woolly Bear Caterpillars are everywhere these days. According to weather lore, the wider the band of brown, the milder the coming winter will be. It's supposed to be an El Nino year, but honestly -- their brown middles don't look that wide to me. Guess we'll wait and see . . .

Oh, I know! I'm seeing them everywhere! Actually, the ones I've seen have medium-sized bands, which I guess means average winter. I guess that would be OK. :)
I'll keep a look-out for them here. Thanks for the reminder!
Have a great day!
They look rather pretty, don''t they?

Beth: An average winter after the last few we've had would be nice, wouldn't it? So far, that's what they are predicting for our area. Only time will tell...
Lea: I've been seeing one or two every time I walk lately, though I'm sure that will change with the coming frost/freeze this weekend.
Sue: I love seeing these woolly guys, and interesting I think that they seem more prevalent in early fall.
I could use a mild winter. But I suspect my weather won't match yours. We don't have any caterpillars around here at all that I've seen.
Wooly Bears are so interesting! The only Wooly Bear I've seen was after July rains. I think the whole of nature is very confused. Thanks for you comment about the black sage blossom.
Alice: You haven't seen any caterpillars at all in your area? No moths or butterflies? You can't have one without the other. And yeah -- a mild winter would be a nice change.
Zippi: Aren't they fascinating? I'll have to watch for some when i walk again on Friday.
If our winter down south is anything like our autumn has been, we're in for a long warm winter down here. Kinda disappointing, actually. :-/
The caterpillars are so cute! Thank you for visiting my blog.
I have not seen these little guys since I lived in Southern Utah.
Id like to invite you to join us for WW.
Hope you have a great week!

Jana: Sorry to disappoint you, but it's an el nino year, so you probably won't see any snow this year. It's supposed to be a milder but wetter winter here.
Thanks, Gunilla!
Karren: Thank you -- cute little guys aren't they?
