Thursday Thirteen 395: Last of Autumn Color

Though we are passed peak color here, I thought I would share some of the many photos taken during a long walk two weeks ago. I captured the autumn color just in time, as winds and rain knocked most of the leaves from the trees the following week.

While most of the trees are bare now, the grass is still very green, and we've had some unusually warm temps this week for November -- 70F temps three consecutive days, a good 20 degrees above normal. That is to change this afternoon, as rain and a cold front move into the area.

Splashes of yellow and orange along the bike path

Love those russet colors along the bike trail

These next few are of the Arboretum, taken from the bike
path looking over Greene Prairie towards Grady Knoll.

Trees along the Badger State Trail, taken from junction
of the Capitol City / Cannonball /  Military Ridge
and Southwest bike trails

Neighborhood Maple

A final view of Grady Knoll -- can you see the bird
sitting in the tree in front of the yellow one? Sadly, I could
not zoom in enough with my camera to tell what it was.

You had some really nice color this year. We were sub-par here. Oh well. I'm busy with Jakarta pictures anyway.

Alice: We have had some nice color. While it is past-peak, a few trees are still in full or partial color, and some flowers are still in bloom. I'm sure that won't last long.

We're gone by, too. We were late, but (briefly) glorious. Bare now.

Ron: Some years the color seems all too fleeting, doesn't it?

I'm going to miss all those fiery colors! It's like a good meal, over too fast.

Lovely Autumn color!

So pretty. We don't get the colors like this because it's too warm. We were in Alaska in September and drove into the Yukon. The colors were starting to change. They had a lot of yellow.

I love your pictures. You're so talented and it's cool to see fall colors.

Colleen: Definitely over too fast!

Thanks, Lea!

Shelley: It is a pity some areas don't get to experience a true changing of the seasons, but I'm glad you got to see a hint of it in Alaska.

Mia: Thank you for the compliments. I actually submitted a few pics to a local TV station this fall, some of which were featured during their weather reports, and a few of which were also added to their "fall color" gallery. :)

LOVE all the autumn color. We didn't have much of that here. The leaves went from green to dead and gone before the colors could change. I'm blaming this schizophrenic weather.

Jana: The weather has definitely been weird this year, thanks in part to el nino. Though we haven't set any new highs, November has been unusually warm here.
