Teaser Tuesday 297: The BFG

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week’s teaser comes from a children's book by Roald Dahl, The BFG, now a Steven Spielberg movie which will be out in theaters in July 2016. You can view the movie trailer here.

Sophie, crouching underneath the blanket, felt strong fingers grasping hold of her, and then she was lifted up from her bed, blanket and all, and whisked out of the window.

If you can think of anything more terrifying than that happening to you in the middle of the night, then let’s hear about it.

(The Snatch)

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Captured by a giant! The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater, the Bonecruncher, or any of the other giants -- rather than the BFG -- she would have soon become breakfast.

When Sophie hears that they are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!

I just read 'Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend' by Matthew Dicks. Very good read.
Hope you are having a great day!

Hello again,
Here is a teaser from 'Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend'

"Here is what I know:
My name is Budo.
I have been alive for five years.
Five years is a very long time for someone like me to be alive.
Max gave me my name.
Max is the only human person who can see me.
Max's parents call me an imaginary friend.
I love Max's teacher, Mrs. Gosk.
I do not like Max's other teacher, Mrs. Patterson.
I am not imaginary."

It is a very interesting story - you will enjoy it.
Have a great day!
Lea

Didn't they just make a movie of this?

The teaser reminds me of some of the incidents we've had around here where bears went hunting in campgrounds.

Alice: As I said above, the movie comes out in July.
