Thursday Thirteen 411: Crazy Weather

We had some of the craziest weather EVER last weekend. Here is what I awoke to Saturday morning: winter. It snowed pretty good for a couple hours, blanketing the ground. About mid-morning into mid-afternoon was when the serious craziness began. Just before I got to work about 10 am, the snow suddenly stopped, and the sun was trying to shine. This did not last long. Next time I glanced out the window, there were white-out conditions. This continued for 15-20 minutes, then it would stop, sun would shine for several minutes, then white-out again. Repeat for five hours. And did I mention the wind advisory with 40 mph gusts? Even the robin looked like he was trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Thankfully, the snow stopped for good (had even completely melted), and the wind started to die down before I got off work, so I did not have to deal with that going home.

The robins were not amused.

Sunday was the complete opposite season. That's right, we went from 35 F and a winter storm on Saturday, to 73 F and SUMMER on Saturday. It was such a nice day, I spent a couple hours in the afternoon sitting on a friend's patio, reading and watching the birds. As you can see, she also has quite a few spring flowers blooming in her yard.

Yes, it was a strange weather weekend, and it continued this week. Poor plants and animals! (And humans.)

Beth: Yes, poor humans -- I can't wait for it to warm up again. These temps are killin' me!

Spring can be a tease. More flowers than flakes, at least.

Colleen More flowers now, but I'm tired of the below norm cold. It needs to warm up again, fast!

We're seeing NO green yet & we had appx 4 inches new snow just last night. Ick.

Ron: There's a chance of light snow again here over next couple days, but at least it doesn't last long, and we are definitely seeing green.

Beautiful flower shots. Today we've had temps below freezing, thunderstorms, rain, wind, and hail. Very strange April.

I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing the crazy weather. Thanks for confirming this and thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.

I was just talking to some people to day about mid-summer snow storms. It was supposed to get up to 75 today. I'm not sure it made it, but it was nice for part of the time.

Those are some wonderful captures, Trix!

I hope to get crocus soon. When I was a child, the crocus peeking through the snow was a grand, anticipated event. :-)

Anita: Thank you. It's definitely been an odd month, weather-wise. We had light snow again Friday, sunshine and cold Saturday, thunderstorm and light showers Sunday.

Mia: It has truly been some weird weather -- and to top it off, I know the day we had "summer" last weekend, Milw. area and points north still had winter.

Alice: Lucky you -- it's been cold here the past week, but warming back into 60's by end of THIS week. I can't wait!

Jana: Thank you! :)

Bluest: I hope you see them soon. We're seeing several different spring blooms here. Won't be long before tulips and iris join the chorus. :)
