Teaser Tuesday 318: Irish Stewed

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week's teaser comes from Irish Stewed by Kylie Logan. I read this a few weeks back, and it was a pretty good start to a new culinary/restaurant series.

I fumbled for the phone in my pocket and dialed 911, hoping that when the dispatcher answered, I could make the words form in a mouth that felt suddenly as if it had been packed with sand.

And all I could think was the one thing I knew I wouldn't dare say to Sophie or to the cops—this gave a whole new meaning to the word terminal.

(Chapter One)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Series: Ethnic Eats #1

After flopping as a personal chef to a Hollywood movie star, jobless Laurel Inwood finds herself humbled in Hubbard, Ohio, helping her aunt, Sophie, run her restaurant. Much to Laurel’s dismay, Sophie’s Terminal at the Tracks is not the cozy bistro her aunt would have had her believe—it's a run-down greasy spoon in an old railroad station. To save the dingy diner, Laurel cooks up a plan to feature alternating ethnic cuisine as specials.

But first there’s the problem of the body in the dining room. Slumped over a table with a receipt spike in the back of his neck is Jack Lancer, aka "the Lance of Justice," an investigative reported for local TV news. Assisted by the drop-dead gorgeous owner of the neighboring Irish Store—who may or may not be a suspect—laurel sets out to track down a killer who had no reservations about impaling a newshound. But as she turns up the heat, will she end up in the soup herself?

This one sounds really tempting...I love a good mystery, and the setting sounds interesting.

This sounds like it is an ideal candidate for reading on the beach or in a sunny garden. Hope you go on enjoying it! This is my offering - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/05/teaser-tuesday-5th-july-2016/

Even before I read the cover blurb I suspected it had something to do with a dead body.

Laurel-Rain: It was a decent mystery - enough that I am interested in reading the next book in the series.

SJHigbee: As I said in my intro, I DID like this one, which I have already finished. You would do well to actually read what people write, not just skim. '-)

Alice: Hehe...you know my reading inclinations so well. :-D

It's been ages since I last read a cozy. This sounds like a fun one.

Here's my teaser from The Fireman by Joe Hill.

Lit Feline: It was an interesting read, though I'm reserving judgment on the series until reading book number two (if there is one - apparently many series are in danger of being canceled).
