Teaser Tuesday 325: Third Girl

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few "teaser" sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week's teaser comes from Third Girl by Agatha Christie. Though this was my first reading, I saw a movie adaptation staring David Suchet and Jemima Rooper a few years ago — long enough ago that I could not remember all the details, only that the dénouement hinged on a portrait.

"I think there might be danger. Danger to anyone who goes poking about where they are not wanted. There is murder in the air — I do not want it to be yours."

(Chapter 6)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Originally published in 1966

From her tousled appearance to her perplexed stare, there was so much about the young girl that struck Hercule Poirot as peculiar. But it was her vague confession to a possible murder she’s not even sure she committed that really threw the Belgian detective for a loop. What’s more, the odd bird has suddenly gone missing. Where to? No one knows. Why? No one cares. So what’s her secret? No one’s talking. But Poirot suspects it’s going to be a killer . . .

I remember 'Third Girl' - Hercule Poirot and Mrs. Oliver - very enjoyable mystery!

I love both odd duck and Poirot stories. I should dig this one up.
