There are still a lot of Pokeweed berries, though they are going fast. |
Technically, these are pine needles. The Tamarack is a deciduous conifer whose needle-like leaves turn yellow and fall in the autumn. |
View from the local sledding hill -- this hill is a restored prairie that is mowed every October and makes for great sledding in winter. |

All we have left here are golds and the evergreens. The reds and oranges have all blown away. The Tamaracks have browned. A little more wind and we'll be done.
Ron: We're right about peak color here right now. I'm hoping I can get out again this weekend. Have to take advantage of the weather while we can!
Oh, heather this is lovely. We still have the remains of the yellows and the salmon colored Maples (turns out they're true rock maples but have been hybridized by maine norway maples), and they keep hanging on. Two days of rain should help that along.
what a great view you have there. Just stunning.
Thanks, Mittens! :)
Lovely. Ours are just starting to turn. I am hoping the upcoming rains won't mess up the colors.
Thanks, Anita! Too much rain or an early cold spell can both really screw up fall color.
You've got some really pretty ones this year. Ours are mostly turning brown on the tree.
I did this today too but the colors are slow to come. I like t he second to last one best.
Lovely images, Heather. I guess we are just about at peak color now. In total, it doesn't seem quite as vibrant to me as past years, but little punches of color really pop as you show in your photos. :)
Thanks for all the lovely and colorful views!
