Intro

"Deliver me from writers who say the way they live doesn't matter.
I'm not sure a bad person can write a good book. If art doesn't make us
better, then what on earth is it for."

~Alice Walker

I've finally taken the plunge!

I've kept a journal for years -- since high school -- and although leaping from page to blog seems a natural progression, it's taken me a while to screw up the courage to jump. I'm not even going to promise to make this a daily habit, but at the very least hope for a weekly update. I'm also not going to commit it solely to writing or any other pursuit, as all are interconnected. If I'm not writing, you can bet I'm either stitching or stamping or doing something "creative." And if I'm not being crafty I'm probably reading, an elderly blue-gray cat curled up next to me.

This past week I got a batch of cards out for a Halloween swap and, since the cards are in the mail back to us this week, uploaded mine last night to the SCS gallery and have already had several favorable comments on it. To be honest, I think it's pretty cute myself, and one of the best I've done. Also finished my sheets for the "Holiday Image" swap, for which I joined two groups. Those are ready to go in the mail, just want to add a little something for the hostess first. Two more swaps to complete, but have to wait for my Stampin' Up! order to come in (probably end of next week). Then I'll really ber busy, between finishing swaps and working on Christmas cards (mine and those of two other people). Need to talk to Rose about holding a workshop when the Holiday Mini Catalog comes out, too. Already know what I'm doing for this year's Christmas cards, but know a couple people who don't, and it's never too early to start thinking about next year. I'm also hoping they have something decent for Thanksgiving, since there wasn't anything in the new IB&C.

On the writing front...*sigh* Finally found some notes and a rough (VERY rough) draft I've spent the past two or three weeks searching for. Always the last place you look, right? And often the most unlikely place. In this case, it was literally right at my feet -- or rather, the shelf under the computer desk. Which I guess would make it more at my knees than at my feet. Umm...right. The point is I finally found what I was looking for, as well as notes on a few other ideas. Who knew? Looking over the draft I can see it's going to need some major work before it's presentable. Still trying to bring together another article idea I had, too (at least I knew where those notes were!). It's really different, not like anything I've seen in various writing magazines, I just haven't figured out how to organize my notes and thoughts yet.

Thanks, Maggie!

And no, I didn't forget you, just didn't have my "cheat sheet" at hand when I was adding links this afternoon. You and a handful of others are there now!
