The Day Bridge, circa 1875-80; Washington County, Pennsylvania. This bridge was closed when we saw it, but was reopened again in 2003. The 36-foot Day Covered Bridge closed in 1999 when inspectors found it so deteriorated it could not support 3 tons -- a state requirement for bridges. The bridge needed major structural overhauls, including the installation of steel support beams, a new (slightly higher) roof, flooring and new sidewalls. Probably looks nothing like this now!

Loving all these pictures of the covered bridges. Those are so cool. :)
Thanks Jana!
We had a lot of fun on that trip and took a TON of pictures. Not near as many as when we were out east, but it was close.
