CowParade: Crossroads and Market Maddie

Crossroads
Artisit: Ben Neff

Market Maddie
Artist: Melanie Cuellar

These are the last of the Fitchburg herd out at McKee Farms Park, both sponsored by the city of Fitchburg. Crossroads, located near the park entrance, not only wears a bike helmet but bike shorts as well. Sweet Maddie is an homage to the weekly farmer's market held at the park and is located further in, between Cow Chip and Star Fleet Battle Cow.

*ggg* Love the one in biker shorts. Toooo funny.

The Sweet Maddie is really pretty. I can't imagine the amount of time, talent and imagination that goes into these things. They're just too kewl.

Jana~ Definitely amazing how much time and work went into each one of these cows. Just wait until you see the mosaic ones. And some of the mural ones. And the one with all the clocks. I have a few rolls (okay, 13 -- at least two of cows) ready to be picked up, and another 7 (mostly cows) to take in. Heck, I even hiked all the way to the top of Bascom Hill to see two of them! To call that hill steep would be an understatement. I so deserve a medal for that!

It's especially neat to see how people respond to and interact with the different cows, but I do wish parents wouldn't let their brats climb all over them. They are, afterall, art and a lot of work went into them. I noticed while up town Saturday and Sunday that one cow missing two weeks ago was just back from the "mooternity ward" for repairs, while at least two others were still out. One of these was Bumper Cow. I know all the little kids want to sit in it and play with the steering wheel and that's fine -- so long as they do so with care and the parents are watching them.
