A Bug in the Apple Orchard

Last weekend, Sept 22, my sister, BIL and young niece came up for the day and we went to Eplegaarden, an apple orchard about six miles from me. That's how close to the edge of the city I am. There's a marsh two miles away, and two miles past that you find yourself abruptly in the country, and then another two miles more is the orchard. In case you're wondering, "Eplegaarden" is Norwegian for apple orchard. Interesting, useless fact for you: in Norway, instead of saying "cheese" when posing for pictures they say "eplesin" (apple) because unlike the word for cheese (ost), "eplesin" is the word that produces that "smile" wanted for pictures.

The Bug had a great time plucking her own apples, and probably would have stripped the orchard bare, given the chance. She loves apples and devoured two while we were there.

Although many trees had fruit at her level, she quickly learned that sometimes you have to reach a little for the best rewards.

Mmm...some of these Golden Delicious might be good as well...

Boy, this apple picking gig is tiring. I think I need a few minutes to catch my breathe...

Okay, I'm good now. Time to get back to it!

And in case you all are wondering, she's wearing her badger football jersey, as all good little Badgers should on game day. In fact, "Go Badgers!" was one of her first phrases. *grin*

What great fun, she is adorable, and fresh apples, not much better than that.
