Thursday Thirteen #37: Favorite Holiday Movies

Ah, Christmas...that time of year when we haul out those special movies we only watch this time of year, building lasting memories with family and friends. Here are thirteen holiday movies I never miss.

1. A Charlie Brown Christmas
2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original 1966 animated; I refuse to watch them massacre a classic)
3. A Christmas Story (I can watch this one over and over again!)
4. Miracle on 34th Street (Original B&W version)
5. It's a Wonderful Life (Original B&W, usually watched on Christmas Eve)
6. The Muppet Christmas Carol (Sweet and funny retelling of the classic story)
7. Scrooged (Funny and Irreverent retelling of the classic story)
8. Holiday Inn (Original B&W, introduced the classic song "White Christmas")
9. White Christmas ("Snow snow snow snow snow...)
10. The Polar Express ("Funny thing about trains...")
11. The Santa Clause (The best of the trio)
12. A Year Without a Santa Claus (Another animated classic)
13. The Holiday

Special Mention:
Meet Me in St Louis (I love watching this movie this time of year!)
Love Actually (Not a holiday movie per se, but it does take place at Christmas)

It just doesn't feel like Crhistmas if we don't watch something like the Charlie Brown Christmas (twice) or A Christmas Story (got the T-shirt).

We're on the same page! I have 6, 13, and Love, Actually on my list. Isn't the Muppet Christmas Carol the best?

The original Miracle on 34th Street is my favorite. Thanks for the reminder: I need to dig my Christmas movies out of the attic pronto!

I watched Miracle on 34th Street this morning. I love it. Watched Scrooged yesterday. And I agree with you about the Grinch.

We always joke about getting a "Charlie Brown" tree when we see those tiny, scraggly ones at the lot. The animated Grinch is a yearly ritual here too.

Thanks for reminding me about some of the others, Heather!

I love While You Were Sleeping, too. (Again, not a Christmas movie, but it takes place at Christmas):)

Alice~ Exactly! I didn't know they had ACS t-shirts. Funny!

Gina~ Muppet Christmas Carol has so many classic lines, doesn't it? "Light the lamp, not the rat!" *g*

Savannah~ You know, I haven't seen National Lampoon's Christmas in ages. I keep missing it when it's on TV.

Paige~ Looks like you have some movies to rent! LOL

Kaige~ A friend of mine used to have a "Charlie Brown" tree. It was an artificial one her parents had even before she was born. I helped her put it up a couple of years, and it was actually kind of sad the year we carted it out to the trash.

Jennifer S~ Oh, yes! "While You Were Sleeping" is a favorite movie I can watch anytime, but especially love it this time of year.

Thanks for visiting everyone!
