Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share at least two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

This week's featured book: A Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kinkaid, which I read as part of the Christmas Reading Challenge. It was a good, fast read suitable for reading together as a family. This is a beautiful passage that gives nothing of the plot away.
I could hear the water moving gently through the riverbed, not like a roaring Colorado mountain stream teeming with trout and gold dust but like a river that takes its time and can say a lot if you have the patience to listen, which is exactly what I did. My mood lifted thanks to its wise counsel.
(pg 90)
ETA: If this title sounds especially familiar right now, it may be due to the Hallmark movie based on the book airing on CBS Sunday night (Nov 29). That was what inspired me to choose this as my first book in the Christmas Reading Challenge -- I wanted to read it before I saw it. Overall, they did a pretty good job though, for some inexplicable reason, they changed the color of the dog from a black lab to a yellow one.

That's a nice mysterious teaser. I love the cover - doggy looks like the dog we used to have.
Thank you. *g* Though the book is about a dog, water does seems to play an important (though minor) role throughout the story. This passage expresses the way I feel about water, how it affects me, beautifully.
I think I just saw an ad over the weekend for a Hallmark movie with this same name! But I believe it ran on Sunday - didn't see it myself.
Molly - Yes, there was a Hallmark movie based on the book Sunday night, on CBS. Other then the fact that, for some inexplicable reason, they changed the color fo the dog (yellow lab instead of a black one), it was pretty good. I know I was sniffling near the end, and I already knew how it ended!
Beautiful prose, wise words of advise. I will be looking into the novel. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2009/12/pearl-girls-teaser-tuesdays.html
Thanks, Jennifer! I know water always has a calming effect on me.
One thing I don't read much of is Christmas themed novels. Hope you enjoy it.
My teaser is herere
Wonderful teaser and it sounds like a nice book for the holidays.
Wonderful teaser. I saw this movie while I was flipping channels.
this is a lovely lyrical teaser, and I'm happy to find your Christmas reading challenge as I'm storing up Christmas reading ideas for my book club - gotta love blogging answers to almost any problem!
This story was advertised heavily on TV, and I wondered about the book. Thanks for the teaser.

Sounds like a well-written teaser! I had a cat named Christmas. :) (Christmas in June) and we called her Chrissy June. :)

Marg ~ I read this over the weekend and did enjoy it, thanks.
Amy ~ It is a good book for this time of year.
Nise' ~ At least the movie wasn't over-promoted as some on ABCFAM are, lol.
Wendy ~ Glad this was a timely post for you, and that your book club enjoys the reading challenge info!
Malcom ~ Well, I wouldn't say it was heavily advertised, as I only remember seeing promos the week leading up to it, but it was a good movie. Of course, with the Hallmaek movies, it's always the commercials that get me anyway, lol.
Lisa ~ I hope you are able to find it and like it as much as I did!
Allison ~ A cat named Christmas...love it! lol
Miranda ~ Twilight for adults, huh? Will have to check that out!
Laurel ~ Definitely a good book to evoke that Christmas mood!
Sounds like a fun Christmasy book! Maybe they couldn't find any black labs that would do the job! he he!
I love Christmas books. Great pick!
Thanks, Heather and Alita, it was a fun Christmasy book. *g*
I wish I would have thought about reading the book before watching the movie! I just reserved a Dog Named Christmas from the library. Here's my teaser...

Westie Loving ~ Believe me, it was sure coincidence on my part. My mom bought the book last year, and I found it while sorting through a pile of books to keep or give away, and set it aside to read--then saw the commercial for the upcoming movie and decided I could just get it read before Sunday night. I hope you like it as much as I did!
I love the idea of reading together as a family.
Great teaser. I enjoyed this book a lot when I read it. Hope u do too.
Diane~ "Hope u do to." -- Not meaning to sound rude, but did you actually read my post? Because I SAID I had already READ the book, not that I was READING the book. Also, "text talk" grates on my nerves. Thank you for visiting!
