Teaser Tuesday 54: Murder Uncorked

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current book or recent read.
* Share a few “teaser” sentences from somewhere in the book.
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away. You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser!

READ AT BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER. THIS IS BOOK ONE IN THE "WINE LOVERS" SERIES.

She looked down and saw a hand. She screamed as her eyes followed the hand deeper into the bushes. (pg 29)

About the book:
(Genre: mystery)

Nikki Sands was like every other aspiring actress -- waiting tables between jobs. But Nikki had taken serving wines to heart. She knew enough to impress Napa Valley's golden boy, Derek Malveaux, who offered her a job at his vineyard. And though Nikki may have left her dreams of stardom behind, the world of wine is ripe with intrigue -- and the seeds of sleuthing are planted ...

Nikki has just set foot on Napa Valleys' rich soil when she realizes her new job may not be as safe as she thought. First off, Derek Malveaux is disconcertingly sexy. Second, his top winemaker is dead in the bushes outside Nikki's cottage. It doesn't take a connoisseur of foul play to know something's taken a terrible turn ...

A mysterious teaser, I like it. The book sounds like a good read. My TT: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/09/teaser-tuesday-the-accordionists-son.html

The cover is perfect with the teaser....

Does she forage into the bush and find the rest of the body... or was it detached?? Sorry love the macabre feeling and my own imagination tends to lean towards Edgar Allan Poe...

But on a complete 360 not... My teaser is on Romance :)

I get the feeling that she's going to follow that hand and see what's going on at the end of it. Me? I'd be running in the oppostite direction :) Thanks for sharing

Jennifer: Thanks, this was a pretty good mystery.

Aisle B: They did a great job with the cover art, didn't they? As for what she finds in the bush...guess you'll have to read the book to find out. *WEG*

Booksih: Yeah, I don't believe I'd be following that hand, either. *shudders*

Kylie: My sentiment exactly, lol!

Hmmm, I don't think I'd put my hand in a bush like that. :)
I think I've read one of Michelle's wine mysteries, although I can't remember the title.

Here’s My Teaser

I love cozy mysteries and this one sounds like it would be right up my alley - combining wines and a mystery!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Oh, wow, as soon as I saw that cover, I thought...hmm, I'll bet it's set in the Napa Valley...and sure enough!

I love it there. What a perfect place for a mystery....

Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.

Shelley: This was my first book by Michele. I have book three, but prefer to reda series in order, so it is on hold until I get my hands on book two.

Kristin: The wine aspect in this one makes for an intriguing setting. There's something almost mystical about Napa, isn't there?

Beth: A familiar dilemma! I have books for a lot of series that interest me on my shelves, it's just a matter of actually getting to them! lol

Heather said...

Marg: I'm beginning to think there is, LOL! I've read a great many of them, and have liked some series better than others. I liked this first "wine" book enough that I will check out the next couple.

Laurel-Rain: I've never been to Napa Valley, or anywhere on the west coast, but perhaps some day. Thanks for visiting!

Kaye: It would certainly frighten the stuffing out of me!

Alice: And I didn't even have to cue the scary music! *g*

EJ: I didn't notice until you pointed it out, but it really does! Eerie...lol

Bev: Yes, you do. Especially this time of year, with cooler temps settling--weather just right for cuddling up with a cup of hot apple cider, an afghan and a good mystery!

Thanks, Heather, and thanks for following!

Wait - If a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, what's a hand in the bush mean?

I wish I had a bigger book budget so that I could pick up all these interesting cozies you've been posting on here. I'd try and get a second job just to buy books but then...WHEN WOULD I READ???

Carrie at In the Hammock Blog said...

oooh so creepy!! i like it!

Eleri: ROFLMBO... A good question! I'd say five to life, depending on whether or not it was premeditated, and whether it was covered up. *WEG*

Jana: I hear ya, sister! I have not got any of the books on this month's TBB list. Yet. I'm hoping to find some of them used to help cut down on costs. Plus, buying them used means I can get two or three for the price of one. I know I am lucky to have that option. I try to support favorite authors by buying new when I can, but as you know, it's not always possible.

Carrie: Thanks, I'm glad you like. Thanks for visiting! *G*
