Heather said...: Definitely not a starling. Those are skinnier, all one dark shade, and have a narrower and longer beak that kind of curves down. I believe this is a chickadee, perched atop a shepherd's hook that holds two bird feeders.; Friday, January 14, 2011 3:11:00 PM

Heather said...: Okay, so I thought this looked like a type of chickadee--same body shape, but chickadees generally have a band of white around the eyes. So, I went on a web search and it looks like this is actually a junco, which is a member of the sparrow family.
