Wishing You a Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Do you have any plans for the evening, exciting or otherwise? Here, NYE will be spent in the company of friends during our annual gathering. We'll open Christmas presents, gorge ourselves with a rather extensive buffet, play games, and talk into the wee hours of the evening. New Year's Day we'll get up just in time to watch the Tournament of Roses Parade commercial free on HGTV. The theme this year is "Oh, the places you'll go," and it's always fun and interesting seeing how creative entrants are. This year's parade includes 41 floats, 24 bands, and 21 equestrian units. Among the entries will be the Badger cheerleaders with Bucky Badger and the UW Marching Band.

We'll graze on leftovers throughout the afternoon, talk some more, and maybe put in a movie or play games before watching our Wisconsin Badgers take on the Stanford Cardinals in Wisconsin's third consecutive trip to the Rose Bowl. This is the 99th Rose Bowl game, with more than 64,500 tickets sold. Here's hoping for a successful showing this year--go Bucky!

I leave you with a few songs to ring in the new year, and wish you a safe and happy celebration!

Happy New Year! We haven't done anything for NYE in a good several years. I'm starting to feel the ache for a good party. I think next year will be the year to do it up right.

This year, our traditional pork roast will be made and I think I'm going to bed early. LOL :D

It will be an interesting night, that's for sure. We usually stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning, but here it is only 3:30pm and I already feel the need for a nap, LOL. It's been a while since I had a pork roast--enjoy!

Thanks, Anita! We did have a good time, even though we were missing a couple people this year -- they did call us at midnight, but just not the same, ya know?

I barely even registered what day was New Year's. I stayed at home in my pj's and read and snacked until the folks called and said to come eat some black-eyed peas and ribs. :-D

Sounds like you had a really special time. Glad you got to enjoy your friends in such a cool way.

LOL...slug! I stayed in my pajamas until noon, while others did not get dressed until 4pm, when the game came on. Glad you had such a relaxing day!

We went out to a restaurant, but we did it way early in the evening. Then when midnight rolled around we toasted it with the kids (sparkling juice). Except for the expensiveness of the restaurant, it wasn't that different from a normal night.

Sounds like it was a fun family night out. We always have both champagne and sparkling grape juice - have to have something for the kids and designated drivers!
