Something certainly hit it. Doesn't look like a bullet, though, which is mostly what takes out glass and signs around here.

Alice: My guess is it was done by kids screwing around, maybe ramming a shopping cart or recycling bin into it. I'm glad it was replaced as quickly as it was. This transfer point is mostly out in the open, and these shelters offer a little protection from the wind.

great capture there. It looks like what I see on an icy window.

Really interesting shots.

Self: Thank you, it sort of reminded me of an ice-covered window, too.

Thanks, Anita! I was glad I took the time to stop and dig out my camera that day. I know if I'd just passed it by, I would have been wishing I hadn't once I got home that day.

When it's a humid wind you need all the protection you can get.

Not just a humid wind. It was nice to have a bit of a break from that last Alberta Clipper that dipped this way last weekend. Now we're in the grips of another Arctic freeze with windchill advisories. Can't it be spring yet?

I'm all for spring, thought I could still use some of your snow. Send it my way!

We've been getting more cold than snow, though apparently we are supposed to get an inch or two Thursday.
