2014 Christmas Cards, Pt 3

A final sharing of some of the Christmas cards made this year. I'm kicking myself for forgetting to scan or photograph the half dozen Disney ones before mailing them. The only reason I have the two here is because I needed to get addresses, and had not yet sealed the envelopes.

This is what the majority of this year's cards looked like.

This is a one-off, only because I cut the green panel a
quarter inch short, and did not want to waste it as a) the
background was already stamped and b) I didn't have
more of this shade of green.

Another one-off for a friend who does not celebrate Christmas.

There were also eight or ten of these blue cards.

MATERIALS:

Paper: White (Darice); Christmas (Cards 2-5 -- Recollections); Blue and Green Plaid (Cards 1 and 5 -- DCWV); Disney (Paper Pizazz/Hot Off the Press)
Stamps: Happiest of Holidays, Itty Bitty Backgrounds (Stampin' Up, retired)
Ink: Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Pacific Blue, Real Red (All from SU)
Accessories: Diecuts, Dimensionals, Marvy punches, Stickles (red berries), Computer printed greeting, Word Window punch

Love them all! And, of course, appreciated mine. :) I just realized Saturday that I never actually go around to mailing your card while I was off. This break was not the most fun one I've had. Hope you don't mind getting a New Year's card instead! :-/

I've enjoyed seeing your creative Christmas cards. You are so talented! How long did it take to make all of them? Do you start making them now for next year, or do you wait until just before the holidays. Very impressive!

Jana: Thank you! Christmas seemed to come on fast this year. I barely got all of mine out before Christmas Eve, and yours was awaiting me when I returned from my sister's.

Beth: I really should start making them now, but no -- there are other holidays and birthdays in between which I am working on now. Sometimes I've started my Christmas cards as early as July, and some years I don't manage to come up with a design until just before Thanksgiving -- which means doing as much work on them as possible over the long holiday weekend.

It helps that a friend and I usually hold crafting weekends October through December (and sometimes Christmas in July), to work on our cards and to finish other handmade gifts. The latter is usually ceramics for her, and cross-stitch for me.

This year I finished cards for one friend's Christmas gift and the assembly of my Blue Christmas ornaments on NYE, mere hours before friends and I got together. It wasn't so much procrastination this year as the fact that I've had an upper resp. virus since Halloween. Just when it seems I'm finally improving, I seem to relapse. :-\
