Beautiful! I really like the Bottle Gentians--they're so fascinating and graceful and such lovely shades of blue!
Thanks, Beth! There are still a ton of bottle gentians on Greene Prairie, but not as many stiff or fringed now. I was disappointed while at Curtis Prairie Tuesday that the trail where one usually finds gentians was closed due to all the rain last weekend, but I did get beautiful pics of a monarch in asters and of a hawk perched atop the Visitor Center. :)
So much potential bursting forth. The colors make me swoon.
Thanks, Colleen -- thought you might enjoy these. :)
Lovely pictures!
Thanks, Natalia!
Thanks so much for linking your beautiful photos at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/09/steam-powered-whatchamacallits.html. I love flowers but wouldn't have known what these are. Gentians, huh? They're lovely!
Hope to see you each week at the linkup, Heather!
Hi Sue! Yes, these are three variety of gentians that are native to southern Wisconsin prairies, and bloom August to about mid-October.
Gorgeous!
Beautiful colours!
