Skywatch Friday 65

A Capitol view . . .

The first two were taken from Monona Terrace on Wednesday afternoon, July 2, two blocks down from the Capitol. The last four were taken as the sun set on July 4, looking across Lake Monona to the Monona Terrace and Capitol from Olin Park.

Oooo, it is a beautiful city (and Capitol building), isn't it?! Lovely photos!

Thank you! I may be biased, but I do agree with you -- a beautiful city and Capitol (inside and out). ☺

I always thought the view of the Capital on the lake is lovely. At one point I used that kind of picture as my decktop-wallpaper.

The Capitol dome shape adds a grandeur to these lovely skies. And such pretty night lights.

Eileen: Thank you! I hope you had a good weekend, too.

Alice: I've always loved this view, too. One of the things I love about Madison in general is the downtown building ordinance that make sit possible to see the Capitol from almost anywhere around the city.

Thanks, Gemma!

It's a good ordinance. It would be a pity for such nice architecture to be hidden by skyscrapers.

Exactly! That is one thing I found disappointing about Richmond, VA -- you can't see the Capitol until you're right in front of it.
